Training Journey:
• Melissa began her martial arts journey as a way to build confidence, strength, and community for both herself and her family. Over time, her training expanded to include certified Vinyasa yoga instruction, breathwork, meditation, and inner-warrior development… an approach that blends mindfulness with practical martial skill. Her path ultimately led to the co-creation of Warrior Women, a program designed to empower women through skill-building, confidence, and community. Influenced by the values and training culture of the Hana Center, she has grown from a dedicated student into someone committed to uplifting others on their own journey.
Teaching Philosophy:
• Melissa believes in meeting students where they are, fostering confidence through encouragement, clear instruction, and a supportive environment. She emphasizes strong fundamentals, mobility, and mindful body awareness to help each student discover their inner strength and personal flow.
Community Contribution:
• Melissa is a driving force within the Hana Center community by supporting events, organizing family-friendly activities, and helping create a welcoming culture for new members. She works closely with the 55+ community, offering accessible training that builds confidence and functional self-protection skills. She also partners with Girl Scout troops, teaching empowerment and age-appropriate self-defense to help young girls develop safety awareness and inner strength. Her leadership in Warrior Women further strengthens the pod and expands its reach.
